The grapes used for this wine were grown in the cool Petaluma Gap near the base of Sonoma Mountain. The vineyard is planted in clay loam soil that provides plenty of nutrition and holds a substantial amount of water to produce strong vines with healthy vigor. Since the fruit is late ripening, grapes were picked in late-October, once they had achieved great balance and medium sugar levels. The grapes were brimming with flavor due to the cool climate growing conditions of wind and fog.
