Backwards Honey Schnapps

Unlike the heavily sweetened schnapps usually found in the United States, this product was modeled after the European schnapps tradition resulting in a very flavorful spirit with only a hint of sweetness, often served chilled and straight up. The mead used as the base of this product was fermented by Big Lost Meadery from clover honey. It was distilled by Backwards Distilling Company and then rested in a Big Lost Pumpkin Spice mead barrel for 8 months imparting a slight hint of baking spice and a pleasant and delicate oak note. These flavors combine beautifully with the prominent clover honey flavor that remained after the mead was distilled. Overall this product has all the honey flavor of a robust mead with very little residual sweetness. Try sipping on it straight from the freezer or in a cocktail.
